Role

Definition

A role is a human position, such as an SDR, a support rep, or a bookkeeper, whose time a workload would otherwise consume.

Marshal does not sell roles and does not replace people. A role is the honest comparison for what a workload costs to staff: inbound lead handling is work you would otherwise hire or assign a person to carry, and the price of the workload sits visibly below that hire.

The distinction matters in both directions. A workload is not a fraction of a role, so there is no "what percent of an SDR is this?" audit to argue about. And a role is more than its mechanical streams: the judgment calls, the relationships, and the decisions stay with your team. Marshal carries the work; you hold the approvals and the rules.
